Chinese Who We Are 2

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

I hope this message finds you well. Over the past two weeks, our inquiry learning has centred on the theme of friendship. The children have been excited to share who their friends are using the sentence structure “我的朋友是……” (My friends are) and to discuss their favourite games to play/ together.




We enjoyed the story "小象的好朋友" (Baby Elephant’s Good Friends) and explored the concepts of safe play and what constitutes a good game. 



Through the story "凯文和凯蒂" (Kevin and Katie), the children learned valuable lessons about playing nicely with friends. They also had a wonderful time engaging in the Jenga game, which enhanced their teamwork, collaboration, turn-taking, and sharing skills.








As we approach the Chong Yang Festival (重阳节), we held an assembly on Friday where the children learned about the traditional customs associated with this celebration.

Exploring our imaginations!

  Dear Turtle Class Families, We are currently in the midst of exploring how we can use our imaginations in a variety of ways! From storytelling, to puppet shows and to dressing up as various fictional characters.       The class were also inspired by the Jack and the Beanstalk story and suggested that we should create our very own castle in the Turtle Classroom. We have had lots of fun playing in our new castle area, and we will continue to enhance this magical play space over the coming weeks!           Something magical has begun to grow in our classroom this week, after planting some magic beans. Open-mindedness can create new opportunities

 Dear Turtle Class Families, The Turtles have continued to be excellent communicators, who have expressed themselves in a variety of ways! They have been performers and dancers, using many different types of body movements and facial expressions. This has all been fantastic practice for our upcoming Celebration of Learning performance on June 20th.  The Turtle Class demonstrated so much kindness and love toward Tilly the Turtle when it was her birthday on May 23rd (World Turtle Day). Many children made homemade birthday cards and brought her presents! Being Balanced and Brave

  Dear Turtle Class Families, We have been on some alphabetical adventures recently in class, where we have imagined we have lost our names! We were inspired by a book called "The Girl Who Lost Her Name' and we also had to help Joyce find her lost name in the ocean!  The Turtle Class has been busily using their imaginations to create fictional stories of how they were able to find the letters in their names. They are eager to share their books with you soon! To further support your child's phonological awareness of initial letter sounds, playing games such as 'I Spy' can help them begin to r ecognise familiar grapheme-phoneme correspondences. Recently, the class has thoroughly enjoyed playing a game called "Who Stole the Cookie from the Cookie Jar?"
