Being Balanced and Brave

Image
Dear Turtle Class Families, We have been on some alphabetical adventures recently in class, where we have imagined we have lost our names! We were inspired by a book called "The Girl Who Lost Her Name' and we also had to help Joyce find her lost name in the ocean!  The Turtle Class has been busily using their imaginations to create fictional stories of how they were able to find the letters in their names. They are eager to share their books with you soon! To further support your child's phonological awareness of initial letter sounds, playing games such as 'I Spy' can help them begin to r ecognise familiar grapheme-phoneme correspondences. Recently, the class has thoroughly enjoyed playing a game called "Who Stole the Cookie from the Cookie Jar?" Please find the lyrics to the fun song/game below: We have recently unpacked one of our Learner Profile attributes for this unit of inquiry - "Communicators" and have learned that there are many diff...

Exciting Updates from Our Classroom!

Image
Dear Parents and Caregivers, I hope this message finds you well! I wanted to take a moment to share some exciting updates from our classroom. We have embarked on a new unit titled "How We Express Ourselves."  As a part of this unit's incursion, we had the privilege of welcoming Fai Shi Fu, the puppetry master, who captivated our students with a mesmerising performance featuring string puppets. The children not only enjoyed the show but also learned about the rich history and theory behind the puppets' movements. Their engagement with the monkey's tricks was a joy to see, and many were eager to try their hand at moving the little lion puppets. In this unit, we are learning essential emotion vocabulary, including words such as happy, sad, angry, scared, calm, and love. Through engaging stories like "Colour Monsters"(我的情绪小怪兽) ", Crying Princess" (爱哭公主)and "Angry Prince" (生气王子), we are exploring different emotions and discussing ways to c...

Exploring our imaginations!

Image
Dear Turtle Class Families, We are currently in the midst of exploring how we can use our imaginations in a variety of ways! From storytelling, to puppet shows and to dressing up as various fictional characters.       The class were also inspired by the Jack and the Beanstalk story and suggested that we should create our very own castle in the Turtle Classroom. We have had lots of fun playing in our new castle area, and we will continue to enhance this magical play space over the coming weeks!           Something magical has begun to grow in our classroom this week, after planting some magic beans. Our very own giant beanstalks! We can't wait to go searching for giants soon!  It has been wonderful to see the children continuing to care for our planet from our previous inquiries in the Sharing The Planet unit of inquiry. The Turtle Class have also enjoyed creating their very own recycled paper, which we plan to place in the Cr...
