Exciting Learning Experiences!

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

I am pleased to share that our students have had a fruitful learning experience over the past few weeks.

We began by exploring feelings and emotions while delving into the art of ink painting. Through the story "我有一盏小灯笼" (I Have a Little Lantern), children learned how to cope with fear and express gratitude to those who support us in times of need.

The ink painting style of the illustrations allowed them to experiment with adjusting ink and water to create beautiful ink flow paintings.

As we approach the Dragon Boat Festival, we explored the festival through the story "小粽子,小粽子" (Little Sticky Rice Dumpling) during our Chinese Assembly. The children learned about various types of sticky rice dumplings and enjoyed a lively discussion about their favorite flavors.

We then deepened our understanding of the traditional festival "端午节" (Dragon Boat Festival) through the story "晶晶划龙舟" (Jingjing's Rowing on the Dragon Boat). This story provided insights into the dragon boat race, including the structure and materials of the boats, as well as the importance of teamwork.

In preparation for our upcoming inter-class "Dragon Boat Race," the children enthusiastically made their own cheering flags and practiced the cheer "加油" (Go Go Go).

After engaging with the story "晶晶过端午节" (Jingjing's Dragon Boat Festival), we learned more about the celebrations, including the dragon boat races and the tradition of eating sticky rice dumplings.

The highlight of our celebration at Hillside was the exciting competition between classes during the "dragon boat race" using tummy boards. Their spirited cheering truly brought our event to life!

Thank you for your ongoing support and involvement in our classroom activities! If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at joey.zhao@hillside.edu.hk.
