Celebrating Winter and Lunar New Year Together!

Image
Dear Families, Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our classroom activities. Over the past few weeks, we have been exploring the themes of winter and Lunar New Year celebrations. We learned about staying warm and activities related to winter through the story “凯蒂在冬天”  (Katie in Winter) and enhanced the languages by colouring the winter clothes. Outer Space Visitors!

Hello Turtle Class Families! We had a very exciting week, where we had an unexpected visit from a family of aliens called Ziggy, Zap and Zip! The aliens are  visiting   Earth to learn more about this exciting planet. With the help from the Turtle Class, the boys and girls will teach Ziggy, Zip and Zap all they need to know about living on Earth. Each Friday the baby aliens named Zip and Zap will go home with two of the Turtle Class students. During the weekend the children who have the responsibility of taking care of Zip and Zap may choose to show the aliens a variety of places or activities that we have in Hong Kong. For example; visiting a playground; or a supermarket; taking a walk around the local area; eating food at a restaurant; taking a ride on a bus/tram; attending a sports class; watching TV; eating ice cream; going for a hike; visiting the beach; reading a bedtime story etc. Please remember to return the baby aliens to school each Monday!  We would be v...

Dear Turtle Class Families, Firstly, we would like to wish you all a Happy New Year, and we hope that 2025 is filled with love, good health and happiness! It has been wonderful hearing all about the class' holiday adventures over the winter break!  We began our first week of 2025 discussing our wishes for the year ahead and we placed our wishes onto a wishing tree in the classroom. We would like to invite the class to share any photographs of wishing trees that they may see around Hong Kong during the Lunar New Year celebrations and upload them into the following Photo Albums: AM Class Wishing Tree photographs  PM Class Wishing Tree photographs  Our discussions of stars led us to inquire into space and share our prior knowledge - the children knew a lot of information and shared how they would like to create a 'Space World' area in the classroom! Ariana also shared how we could create 'galaxy slime' too! Take a look at our busy Turtle Class in action:  The chil...
